I drove up early afternoon on Wednesday to the Mt. Baldy lodge in the San Gabriel Mountains to get settled in for the 8000 Meter Challenge hosted by Jansport the next morning. The goal was to summit the following three southern California peaks: Mt. Baldy, San Gorgonio, and San Jacinto all in the same day.

My brother Justin and I traveled to San Gorgonio for a two-day backpacking trip. We left from the Vivian Creek trail head and hiked up to High Creek Camp to spend the night. The next day we awoke and made it to the summit, went back to camp packed up and headed down the mountain.
