If you don't want to do that, and have a color preference, plz shoot us an email at jdmead@adventure16.com and let me know if you prefer Black or Navy. The Story:
We first designed and manufactured this product back in the early 70s and sold a ton of them for $1.49. It was about the time when most serious and not so serious hikers and backpackers were replacing their military surplus or Scout canteens with lighter and bouncier options that were easier to fill in a stream or lake. And a wiz to clean to boot. Not to mention that it could double as a backcountry football. Offering the carrier was also a great way for us to use up much of the backpack fabric scrapes that tended to accumulate in our small factory in the Quonset Hut in Santee California. At A16, very little ever went to waste.
Fast forward 20 years and sales of this product began to back off as hydration bladders with drinking tubes became the much preferred way to carry easy access water on the trail. Thank you CamelBak! No really.....Thank You! It was a game changer. By then, the price was $5.95
Wait....., there's more to the story. Act II: Much to our surprise, in 1993 our bottle carrier became a star in the first Jurassic Park blockbuster movie. Because a couple of our mountain shops were located near Hollywood, over the years we sold quite a lot of gear and clothing to be used as props, or for use while filming on location. Whether the A16 bottle carrier's film debut was a fluke or a favor, from perhaps Steven Spielberg himself (he was a Customer), we will never know. The 2 seconds of close-up, full-screen fame helped put A16 on the world map, so-to-speak, and extended the life of our death defying brave little bottle carrier that helped save the day.
So whether you're looking for a way to carry and retrieve your outdoor beverage of choice on your hip, you're hiding from T-Rex, or you're a collector of reproduction movie props (yes it's a thing, and a bigger thing than you might think) we've got the answer.
