THE STORY:
This wall art was cut and laser engraved from a slice of log reclaimed from one of the former A16 mountain shops. I've hand made each plank with the hope that it will inspire all who see it to explore and help preserve wilderness, and perhaps make the reader smile.
Robert Service (1874 - 1958) was an English-born Canadian poet who was often called "The Bard of the Yukon." He traveled to the Yukon in 1904 and stayed until 1912. His experience there inspired him to write "The Cremation of Sam McGee" and many other poems. His writings motivated countless, mostly young boys and young men to explore wild places and pursue an adventurous lifestyle. That included me. I first heard this poem at Boy Scout camp in the early 70s and have enjoyed many of his poems ever since.

The Quote Planks are made from a Montana grown Lodge Pole Pine and repurposed from a log used for decor for several decades in an A16 mountain shop. You should expect to find natural and/or other human or animal caused blemishes such as cracks, knots and/or an occasional nail or bug hole. If you're lucky, some bluing stain is visible. Bluing is caused by fungi which was initially transmitted by mountain pine beetles. Each plank is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.
