This coaster was cut and laser engraved from a piece of log salvaged from one of the A16 shops shortly after the physical stores were closed. It was hand made with care by John D. who hopes it will inspire its user to explore and help preserve our planet's wilder places, both near and far away.
Not including growing the tree, coincidently 16 separate steps go into making each Wood Art Coaster. They are approximately 3 7/8" in diameter and 3/8" thick. They have a multi coated clear exterior finish to resist liquids and a natural cork back to help keep your coaster and/or glass from leaping off the table or bar top. This item is made from a Montana grown Lodge Pole Pine log that has been repurposed from a post used for many years in a former A16 shop location. Because of this, you should expect to find natural and other human or animal caused blemishes such as cracks, an occasional nail or bug hole, or a chip. If you're lucky, some bluing stain is included. Bluing is caused fungi transmitted by mountain pine beetles. Each coaster is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.
