“Now I see the secret of making the best persons. It Is to grow
in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”
-Walt Whitman

A positive outdoor wilderness experience can have a profound and lasting effect on anyone, especially a child.  Fortunately, there are many outstanding organizations who teach young people outdoor skills and foster an appreciation of the natural environment.  Unfortunately, some of these organizations and the parents of their young participants lack the funds to buy the key quality gear needed to make these experiences possible.

ADVENTURE 16 FOUNDATION works to benefit teenagers by teaming up with a select few nonprofit organizations in Southern California to help procure quality backpacking gear for their most exemplary participants.

The Foundation’s goal is to enhance the ability of young people to learn outdoor skills and to deepen their awareness and appreciation of the natural environment. When done right, such exposure helps lead to the development of responsible, confident, and enlightened adults who appreciate and protect our wild places and pass their knowledge and passion onto the next generation.

ADVENTURE 16 FOUNDATION was founded in 1997 as Adventure 16’s Donate-A-Pack Foundation. In 2022 the name was changed to better match the current activities of the Nonprofit Corporation.  Those activities include managing and growing an endowment fund which annually and very carefully distributes funds to highly vetted Nonprofits who help underserved youth participate in guided backpacking programs of the highest caliber.

Your donations are encouraged. ADVENTURE 16 FOUNDATION is an all-volunteer organization.  Although a separate corporation, Adventure 16, LLC covers much of the minimal expenses needed to operate a small office so that more that 99% of donations can go directly toward purchasing gear.
