THE STORY: This coaster was cut and laser printed from a piece of log reclaimed from one of the A16 shops shortly after the physical stores were closed.  Each one has been hand made by me, which involved 16 separate steps* with the hope that it will inspire its user/s to explore and help preserve our planet's wilder places, both near and far away.  -John D.

*Disclaimer. With the assistance of power tools. YES, 16 Steps, not including growing the tree.  NO, 16 is not a complete coincidence.  I add an extra coat of finish to get the step count to16.

They have a multi coated clear exterior finish to resist liquids and a natural cork back to help keep your coaster and/or glass from leaping off the table or bar top.  This item is made from a Montana grown Lodge Pole Pine log that has been repurposed from a post used for many years in a A16 mountain ship location.  Because of this, you should expect to find natural and other human or animal caused blemishes such as cracks, an occasional nail or bug hole, or a chip. If you're lucky, some bluing stain is visible. Bluing is caused by fungi which was initially transmitted by mountain pine beetles.  Each coaster is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.

This fun and intricately printed drink coaster features the Holiday version of the A16 logo that was utilized in the late 70s and into 1992. We hope it will sit on your table and and remind you of a trip or two that you made to A16 to do your holiday shopping back in the day. If you look closely, you can see Santa dashing around the corner of the cabin, which happens to be Mic Mead's (A16 Owner and ReFounder) office right smack dap in the middle of the old San Diego shop.  We're darn certain that the office in its location on the 3rd floor was one of a kind. Current Fun Fact: The cabin has been rebuilt and currently sits in the San Diego backyard of a friend, JT Smith, who co-founded A16's Venture Crew.
