THE STORY:
This coaster was inspired by the 1966 printing of the Boy Scout Handbook.
To many of us growing up in the last century the skills and values this book taught were hugely influential. In fact most adult men in the US and a high percentage of women were introduced to the outdoors and gained their initial skills from the scouting program. Adventure 16 was started by a Boy Scout Explorer Post in La Mesa CA in 1962.
"From 1968 - 1972 when I earned my Eagle, the dog eared book shown in the accompanying photos was my bible. It not only helped teach me a wide range of outdoor skills, it also taught me how to live & how to lead. Although, the most effective learning was solidified on the trail and at Scout Camp. My hope is that this unique coaster brings back many happy memories and sparks interesting conversation." -John D. Mead
