THE STORY:
This coaster was inspired by what has been referred to as "The Mountaineers Bible." Mountaineering - The Freedom of the Hills was first published in 1960 by our friends at The Mountaineers in Seattle Washington. They are non-profit publisher and just released the 10th edition. To purchase a new or pre-owned copy, start by visiting The Mountaineers.
No self-respecting mountaineer of any type would or should be caught without without a copy (of the real book, not the coaster. Although..........).
At A16 we always kept a few in stock for reference and/or sale from the first day we began opening mountain shops in El Cajon California in 1972. This Third Edition in 1974 sold for $9.95. It now costs 5 times that.
This item was a collaboration with Oliver Stuff. Dave Stencil the owner, is a one man band too and a super skilled wood craftsman. You should check out his amazing work and offering of inlayed and unique cutting boards at Oliver Stuff
